Ali Shahidian Akbar, was born on February 25th, 1966 in Tehran, Iran into a fairly religious family who were mostly engaged in Industrial activities. At the age of 10, due to his interest and background in Industrial activities, he was keen on patching up a few simple systems such as 8 millimeter cameras used in old cinemas and slide cameras, as youth experiments. These successful attempts increased his interest in the Industrial World, especially in the Facility sector because it was also his father’s profession and had a bold trace in his family.
During his period of military service he fought at the borders in two glorious operations by the names of Karbala 5 and Karbala 6. After war, due to his interest in the Facility Industry, he began working in his elder brother, Mr. Mohammad Shahidian Akbar’s workshop. There he learnt the techniques of building rubber parts and rubber expansion joints.
After a few years of working and learning, he came up with a new design for Rubber Expansion Joints which were suitable for use in powerhouses and circulator pumps. With the help of his brother and years of investment and hard work on this new invention, they managed to patent it.
With the beginning of his industrial career, due to shortage of investments and savings, he only managed to fabricate one size of his invention (the 4” size). All his savings were spent in order to make the mould of this single size. During the 1980s, the expenses used for fabricating expansion joints in powerhouse facilities were 30 times more than what he had! He was just at the beginning of his marriage and career establishment so earning that much money was quite impossible.
After three years of non-stop working, he managed to expand his small rented workshop of 250 square meters by purchasing a land of four acres in Abbas Abad Industrial zone. Once again, thanks to God, and along with his endless efforts the contract of building Iran Industrial Vibration Co’s first factory was signed.
Back then, there was no storage space so they had to use the alleys and roads around the factory during the inspection times.
After another two years of tireless working and signing contracts in the in the Petrochemical Industry, and the Oil and Gas sector, he began building the second factory which has had a salon with the highest ceiling from then till date. (16 meters) This salon, which is named Mehregan Salon, is used for producing products of large sizes.
In 1993, he began creating a newfound product in Iran which was used in water supplying, electricity, gas and ever wastewater industry. This product is used to control the expansion and condensation of pipes in order to prevent them from getting damaged and therefore providing a longer life for pipelines.
By 1998, he began producing complex equipment for main factories in the sector of Stainless Steel, Oil Companies, Gas and Petrochemical Industries. During these 8 years, Mr. Shahidian Akbar and the company focused on improving test systems in order to improve product quality and to hand flawless products over to the customer after sufficient testing.
It’s worth mentioning that in order to keep the customer satisfaction high, he interfered in every aspect of the company’s activities. He even visited the most remote project plants in the country all alone and it was only because of the importance of customer service and customer satisfaction. As a result, all the aspects such as financial matters, sales deals, installations, technical help, production, advertisement, etc. were all under his watchful eyes.
He has been focusing on the most important external factor which a company deals with - ‘Advertisement’. Advertisement is the covertures of each company and public gets to know an industry by its advertisements. Advertisements have been done for Iran Industrial Vibrations Co. in any possible way from participating in domestic and foreign exhibitions to advertising in various cities, airports, etc.
Mr. Shahidian Akbar has also invited many famous people to visit the production line and the factory which has been expanding every day. Among them Professor Eghtesadi (may he rest in peace), Mr. Iraj Ghaderi, Mr. Jamshid Hashempour, Mr. Mohammad Reza Golzar, Mr. Payan Rafat, Mr. Mostafa Karkhane (The National Adult Volleyball Team Coach), Dr. Davarzani (Head of the Volleyball Federation) and last but not least, Mr. Hossein Ma’dani, the most honorable volleyball player of Iran (may he rest in peace) can be mentioned. All these precious figures have been in a close bond with Iran Industrial Vibrations Co. ever since.
By 2000, he began expanding the company to a whole new level. The production line of Stainless Steel Flexible Hoses was entirely imported from abroad and installed in the factory. It’s the only production line for Flexible hoses in Iran – precisely running in Iran Industrial Vibrations Co.’s production line.
Other products such as rubber mats, plant pipes and fabric expansion joints (with the help of Bording Bellows AS, Denmark), miniature bellows and flexible parts for Airlines, Air Jacks, Hydraulic Rubber Hoses, etc were also added to the range of products.
These parts are widely used in most petrochemical companies, power plants, 80% of Iran’s tall and famous buildings, hotels, hospitals, stainless steel factories, subways, traveling agencies, transportation and anywhere which may require the prevention of vibration, expansion or condensation.
Besides the efforts in expanding the products, the improvement of the factory has always been considered. Projects and plants from various companies and countries such as Hydro Sapin - Italy, Witzenmann - Germany, Macoga - Spain, Polytechnic - Turkey, Uni-Star - China, Bording Bellows - Denmark, Belman - Denmark, etc. have been constantly visited in order to improve knowledge and awareness in regards of the products and the factory. There has been mutual trade and businesses with these companies which lasts up to date. These established relationships are creating a base of foreign knowledge and expertise in Iran and Iran Industrial Vibration Co’s products. By using it, Mr. Shahidian Akbar has managed to start the production of Hydraulic hoses, Industrial Hoses and Fabric Expansion joints which are only domestically produced in Iran Industrial Vibrations Co.
According to the company’s plan for growth, he decided to stick to the new policy of mass-producing the routine products which are used for buildings of more than 5 stories. At that time instances of abusing the copyright laws of using the IIVCO brand and selling its products under the name of foreign brands with a more expensive price were witnessed in big facility markets such as the ones in Bahar Street, Khayam Street and Shadabad Metal Market.
In order to put an end to this illegal activity, Mr. Shahidian Akbar decided to purchase a shop every two years in each of these markets and to sell the products in direct relation to customers. This decision served well because it increased profit due to the increase in sales and it was also a green light because of the increase in customer satisfaction rate. These shops were named ‘Public Shops’ which means selling products to the public. Thankfully, this name is well-known in the market.
The decision upon expanding the company across the border was made while it was getting expanded inside the country. Therefore, offices were opened in UAE, Iraq and China. All these offices are working at the moment and their first duty is to supply the stock material needed for the factory. Their second duty is to help the company in exporting goods to other countries, namely Arabic countries.
Mr. Shahidian Akbar’s sweetest memory of foreign trade is probably the one related to Kuwait’s Water and Waste Water Project and also the one related to Dubai’s Police Center and its main building. He managed to install all the equipment for these buildings independently through a tough competition between companies from Europe, the USA and the Far East (China, Japan and Korea). Needless to say, this equipment is still working flawlessly up to date.
As he has let the affairs of the company in the skillful hands of experienced managers, he has decided to work on several inventions. Two of which are already registered and we are opening their production lines nowadays. The main objective is to mass-produce and export these products to other countries in the Middle East and to sell them in Iran.
